
Recipe for the preparation of the cake “Red velvet” (Red Velvet Cake):
Ingredients:
– 2 and 1/2 cups of wheat flour
– 2 tablespoons of cocoa
– 1 teaspoon of baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of soda
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 1/2 cup of butter, room temperature
– 2 cups of sugar
– 2 eggs
– 1 teaspoon of vinegar
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 1 cup of milk
– Red food coloring
For cream:
– 450 g of cream cheese
– 1/2 cream cups
– 1 cup of sugar powder
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Pre -heat the oven to 180 ° C. Prepare the baking dish, lubricating it with oil and sprinkling with flour.
2. In a large bowl, mix wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, soda and salt. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Add the eggs one at a time, whipping after each addition. Then add vinegar, vanilla extract and a little red food dye to give brightness.
4. Gradually add a dry mixture to wet, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth dough.
5. Pour the dough into a prepared form and evenly distribute it. The furnace in the preheated oven is about 25-30 minutes or until cooked (check with a toothpick, it should go out clean).
6. While the cake cools down, prepare the cream. Beat cream cheese, cream, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl until a homogeneous consistency is obtained.
7. When the cake has completely cooled, remove it from the mold and cut it into two parts. Apply half the cream to the lower layer, then cover with the top layer of the cake and apply the remaining cream on top and on the sides.
