
Recipe for the preparation of the classic pies “Strawberry-Bazylik”:
Ingredients:
– 2 cups of wheat flour
– 1 teaspoon of baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 150 grams of butter (chilled and chopped)
– 4-6 tablespoons of cold water
– 500 grams of fresh strawberries (washed and chopped)
– 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh basil
– 1 cup of sugar
– 3 tablespoons of starch
– 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
– egg (for lubrication)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add cooled chopped butter and grind it into flour until large crumbs are formed.
2. Gradually add cold water and knead the dough until the ingredients are combined. Do not cross the dough so as not to overcome it.
3. Divide the dough into two parts and form two flat circles from them. Wrap the circles in the film and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
4. In a small bowl, mix strawberries, basil, sugar, starch and lemon juice. Leave for 10 minutes so that the berries are given juice.
5. Pre -heat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
6. Remove one of the chilled circles of the refrigerator dough and put it in a cake shape. Press the dough to the bottom and sides of the form.
7. Pour a prepared mixture of strawberries into the dough in uniform.
8. Remove the second chilled circle of dough and cut it into strips or other decorative pattern. Place these strips on the top of the pie.
9. Lubricate the upper part of the pie with a broken egg.
10. Put the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top becomes golden and begins to bubble.
11. After baking, let the cake cool before serving. You can serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
