
A label pie is a classic dish of Russian cuisine, which is a fragrant and juicy pie with apple filling. This cake got its name in honor of the outstanding Russian writer Ivan Label.
The following ingredients will be required to prepare a label pie:
– 2 kg of apples
– 250 g of sugar
– 250 g of flour
– 200 g of butter
– 4 eggs
– 1 teaspoon of baking powder
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Start with the preparation of the dough. Melt the butter and cool it to room temperature. Then in a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder and vanilla extract. Add melted oil and eggs, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until it turns out a homogeneous dough. Wrap it in a film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
While the dough is cooling, take up the preparation of apple filling. Peel the apples from the peel and seeds, cut them into thin slices or cubes. Put apples in a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Mix well so that the apples are evenly saturated with sugar.
After a 30-minute cooling of the dough, take it out of the refrigerator. Divide it into two parts – one for the lower layer of the pie, the other for the upper. Roll out the first part of the dough and lay it in a baking dish previously greased with oil or covered with parchment paper. Distribute apple filling evenly along the bottom of the shape.
Then roll out the second part of the dough and put it on top of the filling. Close the pie, gently connecting the edges of the dough. Make a few incisions on the upper layer for the output of the steam.
Heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Put the shape with the pie in the oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top of the pie becomes golden.
After the readiness of the pie, take it out of the oven and leave to cool a little. Serve the label pie with warm or room temperature. Great for a cup of tea or coffee.
