
Pear and ginger pie (Pear and Ginger Pie)
Ingredients:
– 2 round layers of puff pastry
– 4 ripe pears, peeled and chopped
– 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, finely cut
– 1/2 cup of brown sugar
– 1/4 cup flour
– 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
– 1/4 cup of butter, softened
– 1 egg, whipped (for lubrication)
Instructions:
1. Pre -heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2. Expand one layer of puff pastry in the shape of a pie and carefully distribute it throughout the bottom and sides of the shape. Leave a small amount of dough to decorate the upper part of the pie.
3. In a large bowl, combine chopped pears, fresh ginger, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and ground ginger. Mix that all the ingredients mix evenly.
4. Put the mixture of pears and ginger on a prepared layer of dough in the shape of a pie.
5. Roll out the remaining puff pastry and cut it into strips or create a decorative lattice, which put on top of the filling of pears and ginger.
6. Using a brush, apply a whipped egg to the upper layer of dough to give the cake a golden shade and a slight shine.
7. Put the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, until golden and crispy crust.
8. After readiness, cool the pie before serving. You can serve it yourself or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
